The Four Winds
Dare to Dream
Every time a woman chooses to take the long route home to avoid the dark alleyway.
Every time a woman hears footsteps behind them in broad daylight and subconsciously clenches her fists.
Every time a woman plays down the thoughts and feelings they have, because they might be seen as too much, too wild, too insane.
It has made us shrink into a lesser version of ourselves, a lesser version of a woman. It reverberates, it resonates, it leaps from us to the next woman and the next.
Welcome to all new travellers who have arrived, I’m delighted that you have stopped by. If you want to know what to expect from me you can visit this post.
This tapestry is weaved with love and magic with the intention that all who come into this space have a positive and uplifting experience. Together we are a mighty force of beings raising consciousness for the highest good of all. And so it is.
The illusion wants us to believe that we are in terrible danger every time we step out of the front door. Every time we dare to speak our minds, speak up for ourselves or someone else. Take time to rest and then jump up before anyone sees us, frantically trying to look busy. Telling everyone we are happy with our lives because from the outside we have it all, whilst sobbing silent tears in the toilet.
This is not the truth.
The truth is that we carry the shame and guilt of our women ancestors who not only couldn’t have it all, they barely had anything at all. They had to work hard to feed themselves from their own lands. If their lands failed they did not eat and they had failed too. They made sacrifice upon sacrifice. They went without so their children could eat. They were humiliated and treated lesser than when they could not provide the basics. Not just the wild woman in the woods, the priestesses, the crones, the witches. These were ordinary woman just trying to survive.
The truth is that we are stronger than we think, we are mightier than the most holiest forged sword, we are courageous, we are fighters, we are warriors, we are princesses and heavenly beings all rolled into ones. We are the stuff of legends, we are the myths that created worlds of wonder, mystery and mayhem. We will rise again.
The Four Winds
I got the book The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah out of the library recently and a few days later realised that I had also mentioned The Four Winds to my friend before I’d picked up the book. We are both familiar with The Medicine Wheel that offers four directions of help. Me from my Native American guides who introduced me to it through the elements and animals to call upon; eagle, buffalo, salmon and bear. Commonly used in ritual, ceremony and shamanic healing they are a powerful tool for calling up strength, resilience, confidence and determination.
As I read this book about survival in the depression of the 30’s in America where one woman fights against the odds to try and make a better life for her and her children. I could feel it in my bones. I could feel the struggle of this woman, my ancestors and others. I could feel that fight and determination, but also the weakness that came from being ground down over and over again. I could also sense the hope, that it would only take one change of fortune, one helping hand, one extra coin, one twist of fate for everything to change for the better.
Dare to Dream
Lately I’ve been sat with what I really want. Not what I think other people want from me, I’ve been second guessing that all my life, until now. Not what is socially acceptable in a series of education, work and even community where I’ve been asked, and willing obliged, just to be able to conform for even a short time, to feel as though I belong.
What do I want right now as a 50 year old woman who has been through the fires and the floods and the wound witnessing and the breakdowns and the breakthroughs and the lightbulb moments and the down on my knees and praying and the bloody hours and hours of healing to get to this point.
A point at which I simultaneously know myself inside out and haven’t a clue who I am because I have shed the skins of a thousand snakes.
Yet you might notice something different. You’ll feel a different energy here. I’ve moved away giving everything away when asking to receive. I’ve moved away from trying to please people. I’ve moved into a place of receiving without giving away my personal power and creating a soul family, rather than a wobbly foundation of support that could collapse at any time.
I do believe that I couldn’t have arrived here at any other point without those extra lessons that have shifted something to the point of being able to reclaim my sovereignty to work for me, in this lifetime, in this moment. For me to show you what you seek. I’ve arrived at a point of peace.
Whilst sat drinking my coffee this morning. I asked the question again “What do I really want?” and the answer I got was time. Time to rest, time to dream, time to think, time to believe, to take my time.
I know that your ancestors and mine are standing right behind you and asking you to dream. Asking you to dream about things they couldn’t bear to because it was too painful to know they would never be possible in their lifetime or for any foreseeable ones.
They want you to breathe it in, allow it, open yourself to receive and believe it is possible from day one, from this day forward. To have what was never within their reach.
In September, the Wellness Pools return and Rooted, an intimate writing 6 week writing experience to connect with the stories of your ancestors that bring meaning and matter to you right now. Do let me know if you are interested.
Places where you will be able to ask for you what you really want and receive it.
Imagine that.
Blessings of love and magic,
Louise x

Loving all this ancestral connection, desire for time and daring to dream💙
One of the chapters in my book is a letter I’ve written as a gift to my ancestors.
The gift? It’s time.
That is what our connection to them brings.
Exciting times.
Like you say, too painful for them to dream. To dream big.
For our ancestors to dream of a better tomorrow, it a was enough.💜
